What we store and how
All data on MindCanopy is encrypted — in transit and at rest. Your sessions, your messages, your intake information, your payment details.
We don't sell your data. We don't share it with your employer, your insurance company, or any third party for advertising.
Who can see your sessions and messages
You. Always.
Your therapist. Only your assigned therapist can access your shared conversations and session information.
Our admin team. Only in specific, limited circumstances — for example, to resolve a technical issue you've raised with us, or if there is a genuine safety concern. Our admin team cannot read your therapy sessions as a matter of routine.
Session notes
Your therapist writes session notes to help them track your progress. You can view your own session notes. Our admin team cannot access them.
What about safety situations?
There is one exception to confidentiality that's standard across the therapy profession globally: if a therapist believes there is imminent risk of harm to you or to someone else, they are professionally obligated to take appropriate action.
This is a narrow exception. It doesn't mean your therapist will report your anxiety to anyone. It means that if you communicate a genuine, immediate intent to harm yourself or someone else, they have an obligation to act.
India-specific note
MindCanopy is not a HIPAA jurisdiction — that's US legislation. Our data practices follow applicable Indian data protection law and the professional standards of the therapists working on our platform.
